excavate, awaken, subvert
Grace Pemba is a figurative painter and nature nerd based in Portland, Oregon whose work is marked by searching, expressive movement. Her current practice includes painting and drawing, with a preoccupation for subverting culturally dominant narratives through a return to the body. She is especially interested in scheming amongst the social currents of representation, [de]colonization, and collapse and rebirth; drawing inspiration from her ecological studies as well as feral plants and creatures. Grace is committed to collective liberation and regards art and art-making as a fundamental strategy to convey radical possibilities.
